Abstract
Embedding research and innovation in the healthcare system
In reference to the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences recent policy announcement, Prof Webb will explain what embedding of research in healthcare entails. Prof Webb will use REMAP-CAP, a trial for patients with severe COVID-19 as an example of an embedded trial. Embedding trials must solve problems for the healthcare system and the trial has to be optimised so results are implementable. Embedding research has the potential to both improve patient outcomes and make healthcare systems more productive. Prof Webb will outline the role technology can play as a pathway to embedding and how embedding research and innovation in the healthcare system fits into the vision for research at St John of God Health Care.
